Only a couple of days..

Only a couple of days more before I once again undertake the 30 hours journey from Macau to the place once I called home, Curacao. It has been about three months ago that we left our lady at the docks of the Santa Barbara Marina. My friend, Willo, has been looking out for her, checking in every week to flush the watermaker, run the engine for a bit and inspect the general state of the boat. His weekly whatsapp reports showed some issues appearing. A little squeaky noise coming from the engine, and our aged Bimini torn up in a squall. It feels like Ah Ma is a bit sick and is asking for attention..

In the mean time we have been scouring the internet, ordering ‘stuff’ for the many projects on the ever growing to-do list. Items are slowly trickling in at the freight forwarder in the US, waiting to be dispatched to the Marina. We use Shipito, as I’ve been using them for many years for my business. I find them to have excellent service and good consolidated rates to locations all over the world.

It’s now close to half a year to the departure date of the journey back to Asia, and this trip to Curacao will be our last opportunity to test things before we head west in January. My plan is to live on the hook for a couple of weeks, to thoroughly test the plumbing, water and electricity supplies. But first there is a little matter of a strange squeak in the engine and the torn up bimini. For this to be repaired, people will need to get on the boat, so I’ll be confined to the Marina for a bit. Linda will be joining me for a couple of weeks, so I hope we can do some sailing those days.
