All aboard!

A few more days before we set off on the first leg of the long journey to the other side of the Pacific.  The last few days were spent finishing off some of the last tasks on the to-do list. The running backstay has been replaced with a fresh string of steel,  the AIS now finally spits out the correct bits of data, the ditch bag is packed with emergency gear and rations, the Epirb hangs proudly on the wall and has been registered with the authorities, IOT gear has been configured to detect smoke and water and the whole boat had a thorough clean-up.

Today I will pick up Skipper for hire whom’s going to take command of all things sailing during the long ocean legs. Tomorrow, a gentlemen will join us from freezing cold Colorado to help out on the first few days towards Panama. Time for one last and very necessary clean of the bottom bits which looks like a coral reef and hoist the genoa and staysail back on their rollers.

Our first leg will be running down to Colon,  Panama where we aim for Shelter Bay Marina. We expect for it to take the better part of 5 or 6 days.  So far, forecasts look promising, no big red swatches of wind on the PredictWind app so far. As we will finally get moving, I hope to post more sailing related things.

Exciting times ahead..
