S/V Ah Ma is our little corner of the internet where we share our experiences, lessons learned and opinions sailing S/V Ah Ma around the world.

What is Ah Ma
Ah Ma is a Bavaria cruiser 55, built in 2010, commissioned in 2011. She spent her younger years named ‘Alanui’, flagged with a German Black, yellow and red. She was built in Germany at the Bavaria yachts wharf by the engineers of BMW marine following the drawings for the famous Farr brothers. Her keel sticks 6.4ft under the water line and her mast towers almost 75 feet above the teak deck. On a calm day she carries about 1800 Sqft of sails on her cutter rig, but usually a bit less as we like to take things ‘easy’.
We found her lonely at the docks on the remote Island of Curacao, where in April 2019 and became ours to worry about.
Who are we
We are Linda and Jeroen, a middle aged couple up for a new adventure. I have been around sailing boats since I was a little boy and took towards blue water sailing later in life, so I’m pretty new at this. It goes to far to claim that I am an experienced sailor, but I know my way around a boat and can manage without too many incidents. My wife, Linda knows how to sail a Dinghy. She has no experience on larger boats, but is up for the challenge and has already proven to be a great help.
Our first order of business is to bring Ah Ma home, that is somewhere in Asia, we don’t know exactly where to yet, but we plan to begin this journey this December.
