Last preparations

Two suitcases filled with almost 50kg of bounty from TaoBao and local shops accompanied me from Macau back to Holland. Here I’ve picked up two life vests and my Marcom/B Radio license documents and said my goodbyes to my parents and brother.

It is now time to head out to Seru Boca Marina, Curacao on that coveted one way ticket, to meet a couple of more boxes of gear from Amazon. The last year we’ve been preparing for this, gathering bits and pieces, arranging documents and planning our steps. It’s getting awfully real now, the plan is to throw loose the lines the first weekend of February and set sail for Shelter Bay, Colon Panama, a 600ish mile long journey that would be the final shakedown test of Ah Ma. The journey will be a straight forward run,  but seas can be uncomfortable around the tip of peninsula de la Guajira.

Our Skipper for hire, an experienced skipper from a Yacht Delivery company, will meet me a couple of days before we plan to set off. We are looking for a third crew to lighten the load.

Just a few last bits and pieces to prepare, I’m excited.
